I do not have a regular weekly paycheck or salary. How do I give the first fruits and calculate what to give? I really don't know my status until my p&l at the end of the month.

Should you pay back a tithe if you miss it?

Have a friend who goes in debt every month b/c she tithes 10 percent first, and then can't pay the rest of her bills without using a credit card. Even with cutting back, she would like to save some money as well, but can't b/c she feels bound by giving 10 percent... Is the 10 percent and no less really a command from God? I've always grown up tithing, but I don't know that I feel she should go in debt continually at this point in her life, just to give the full 10 percent. Isn't giving from your heart happily, what you can, good enough when it comes to your tithe?

I want to combine 2 of the questions previously asked. If you are self employed and /or have variable income how do decide what your income will be to set up a budget?

What does scripture say about giving to people who "pan handle"? (Random people approaching you with a sad story asking for 'gas money' or whatever) My mom says we are to give to those in need regardless of whether we think they are honest or not because God judges us on our action and He will judge them on theirs. I want to be a good steward of what God has given me. And I want share in my abundance with those in need.

If you have extra money monthly what should you be doing with it seeing as investing with the current state of the economy is probably not an option?

If I give to someone in need is that considered alms for the poor or should I give to the alms at church and let them distribute it?
